The Battle of Stalingrad Virtual Museum

The Stalingrad Battle was one of the most fierce and bloodiest battles not only of World War II but in the whole history of warfare. Approximately there were 2 million casualties. The battle lasted for more than 5 months, from August 1942 to February 1943. It was for the possession of Russian city Stalingrad (now Volgograd) on river Volga. German troops with their allies attacked the city that was heroically defended by Soviet Army. The hard victory of the Soviet Army was the crucial moment of World War II.

There is a famous museum and memorial complex in Volgograd devoted to the battle for Stalingrad.
